G7 agriculture ministers support grain deal prolongation
TOKYO, Apr 24 (PRIME) -- The Agriculture Ministers of the G7 states have confirmed the importance of prolongation of the grain deal, the officials said in a joint statement on April 23.
"We recognize the importance of the E.U.–Ukraine Solidarity Lanes, (Ukrainian) President (Vladimir) Zelensky's Grain from Ukraine Initiative and the U.N. and Turkiye-brokered Black Sea Grain Initiative (BSGI). In this context, we strongly support the extension, full implementation and expansion of BSGI," the communique read.
At the same time, the meeting participants condemned Russia's use of food for destabilization and political pressure. The restrictive measures against Russia are to remain in place with food and fertilizers not affected.
